I'm sorry I haven't yet properly replied to this.
I have two general comments. First, a user wrote up his concerns about
the move to biosdevname here:

might still be relevant. One thing we should do based on that is to
definitely make sure that the change is covered in the release notes -
both for Wily and the next LTS.
Second, can we involve the original stakeholders behind biosdevname
somehow?
