Re: Installation Media and supportability of i386 in 18.04 LTS Re: Ubuntu Desktop on i386

Dimitri John Ledkov,

Simple question from someone who is not high on the Linux knowledge ladder.

Linux developers/distributions have made a big deal in the last two
years of how Linux could be the saviour of users of old machines running
Microsoft XP. If Ubuntu and others stop releasing i386 versions of
Linux, what happens to all the thousands of older computers around the
world that have adopted Linux but are not compatible with 64 bit
architectures? Many of the owners of these machines do not have the
resources to go out and purchase new, or newer, machines.

Is there a way that existing releases could be maintained in a safe and
usable state?

Kind regards,

Roy Davies
