Thanks for the input. It makes sense to stay at 1.8 since it's an LTS.  In fact 1.8 is supported further out than 1.10 according to the chart at https://www.djangoproject.com/download/.


Shipping 1.10 in Debian makes sense, since we're hoping to be able to include 1.11 LTS in stretch.
