Re: mlocate - what is it good for?

I have been using mlocate to provide a simple and low traffic search
index for users in an NFS home environment. (updatedb run on the file
server, but db searchable from clients)

However, having it enabled by default also caused trouble earlier e. g.
when using automount or non-standard file systems not configured in the
stock updatedb.conf.

Not sure if my vote counts, but: locate has its use and I would install
it on most servers, but having it on by default has bitten me already in
the past.
