I'm a developer on Zstd. We saw the thread talking about the challenges
you are having selecting a compression level for your use case [0]. (I'm
not subscribed to this list, so I couldn't figure out how to get the
In-Reply-To header set up to actually reply to that thread. Sorry!)
This sounds like a real pain point, and we want to help solve it
(especially since this challenge is likely not unique to this particular
use case).
I've opened an issue on the zstd repo [1]. Your input is very welcome on
what tools zstd could give you that would best solve this problem.
