Re: Mailing list moderators needed

I, too, volunteer Robie! /s

I know that for my own smaller lists, it's really a matter of coming in and quick scanning through things.  A lot of subject lines are similar and sometimes you'll get 10 messages from a single email, and that's easy enough to pass over.

Nathan

I volunteer Robie.  I have some wide regex catches that I put into place on community council and lubuntu lists and it seems to be filtering a lot of the junk out.  Still some but not as much.  That and we set some other restrictions as well.  Happy to apply those to the devel lists.

Subject: Mailing list moderators needed

Currently there are 245 emails in the moderation queue for
ubuntu-devel@ and 12 for ubuntu-release@. Most are spam. I get the
impression there's been a massive increase in spam hitting the lists in
recent weeks.

If we shutter the mailing lists and move to Discourse this will be moot,
but in the meantime, I think we either need to start auto-rejecting
email from non-subscribers, or we need more human spam filters.

Any volunteers?

I asked this on Matrix a while ago[1] and had one volunteer, but I don't
think that's enough!

If we don't get some volunteers, I'm going to set ubuntu-devel@ email to
auto-reject for non-subscribers - better that then emails in the queue
never getting looked at.

Thanks,

Robie
