+1 from me for moving, too. As many people already told here.

Having gotten used to modern chatting, Mattermost for Canonical, Telegram for
OpenPrinting, and Matrix for many other chats in the community, it is really
awkward to have to downgrade to IRC to ask a question to Ubuntu's developer
community. Makes me often asking only my Canonical colleagues on Mattermost.
Also not having the IRC client running all the time, losing what happened before
entering ...

Threads, direct messages, pinging a person who is offline and getting the answer
when they come back, markdown, pictures, videos, links with preview, ...

And for a modern distro as Ubuntu we should not invite our new contributors into
a medieval world ...

Please leave the separate, #ubuntu-release gets a bot message whenever somebody
is uploading something, so discussions get really lost easily. Or when joining
the two, create a new #ubuntu-notifications for the bot messages ...

let us have great converations ...
