The Null_Byte Core collective has officially reactivated its operations to monitor the development of Ubuntu 26.04 LTS "Resolute Raccoon." We are closely tracking internal discussions regarding the implementation of "Age Assurance" APIs intended to satisfy California's AB 1043 (Digital Age Assurance Act).
As long-time contributors and power users within the Ubuntu ecosystem, we are setting a clear non-negotiable condition for our continued support and infrastructure loyalty:
1. Technical Veto on Surveillance APIs Implementing a system-wide Age Verification API (whether via DBUS, the installer, or core desktop components) is a fundamental violation of Free Software philosophy. In an open-source environment, such "compliance layers" are technically futile; our collective will neutralize them via patches, custom kernels, or forks within hours of release.
2. The Final Ultimatum Should the Ubuntu 26.04 LTS Beta (March 26) contain any code fragments that enforce or facilitate age-bracket signaling or identity verification, NullByteCore will terminate all Canonical-based projects and support immediately.
3. Infrastructure Migration We are already preparing a full-scale migration of our infrastructure to Arch Linux / CachyOS. An operating system that prioritizes regional political compliance over the autonomy and privacy of its global user base has lost its mandate as a professional workstation platform.
We expect a public statement affirming user autonomy before the Beta release. Our hardware—including high-end systems —is reserved for software that respects the user, not the legislation of a single US state.
